  • The Power of Harmony Convention 2022 (Palmerston North) (Quantum Acoustics, The Plainsmen)
  •  Date Posted: Mon, 26 Sep 2022
What a weekend! Three days of competition, fun and friendship from singers from throughout New Zealand. All members of Harmony Waitaha competed with distinction - in particular
Promenade Quartet winning the male quartet category with a mark of 76.9%. This would have placed 5th in the BHS Next Gen (youth) Quartet contest.
Our youth chorus Quantum Acoustics achieving an outstanding mark at their first competition and winning third place in both the mixed AND open chorus competition .Their mark would have placed 15th at the last BHS international open chorus contest!
Canterbury Plainsmen Chorus achieving second in the male chorus category with a significantly better mark than our last convention.
Our mixed quartet Terra Firma (featuring our MD Gavin Hurley) was second in the Novice Quartet section.
Everyone of our members who crossed the stage performed with skill, passion and demonstrated their love for their craft!
We owe a huge debt of thanks to all members who step up and support the chorus - whether musically or in the myriad of other roles and tasks that are essential for a successful chapter. And each and everyone of us is grateful to our family, friends and supporters who encourage us to follow our love of singing with Everyone in Harmony.

    Power of Harmony Convention 2022

    Palmerston North
    September 23rd - 25th, 2022

The Regent on Broadway, 53 Broadway Avenue, Palmerston North, New Zealand

The convention will include BHNZ National Chorus and Quartet Contests.

We are now only a few weeks away from this important part of the Barbershop year - and about to attend our first convention since 2019 in Christchurch (no prizes for gessing the reason!). Both our Plainsmen Chorus and our youth Chorus Quantum Acoustics are working hard at rehearsals and are confident we will perform well. We will also have a significant number of quartets performing. Wish us luck!
